Rebates

Medicare Better Access

While a referral is not needed to schedule an appointment with a psychologist, Medicare rebates are available for the treatment of qualifying mental health conditions under a MHTP.

A MHTP is initiated by your GP and facilitates access to a Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

If you attend therapy with Meg under a valid MHTP, the out-of-pocket fee is $134.75 per standard session. Please contact your GP to discuss your eligibility for a MHTP.

Effective July 1, 2026 the Medicare rebate per session will increase from $145.25 to $149.05.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

Current and former members of the Australian Defence Force with at least one day of continuous full-time service (CFTS) are eligible for treatment of any mental health condition with a DVA white card. All psychology services provided to veterans who hold a DVA white card will be billed directly to the DVA, with no gap fee.

Private Health Insurance

Clients with Private Health insurance may be eligible for rebated psychology sessions. Please check with your Private Health insurance to determine eligibility and how much you may be able to claim for psychology sessions. If you have Private Health with psychology coverage, our session fee is paid by you in full, after which you can submit a claim with your fund for reimbursement (an invoice and item code will be issued).

Please note, clients are not able to claim a Medicare rebate via their MHTP and a rebate through their private health insurance for the same consultation.

Cancellation Policy

When appointments are booked, your clinical psychologist reserves the full hour, especially for you. If you cannot attend your appointment, we kindly request that you please let us know as soon as possible. This enables us to offer the appointment to someone else in need.

If you are unwell, there is the option of attending your session via telehealth – this can be arranged by contacting us at any time.

Missed appointments, and appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a cancellation fee. This fee is not covered by Medicare.

Late cancellations are charged at 50% of the appointment fee, and missed appointments are charged at 100% of the appointment fee.

If you are late to an appointment, your session will need to still finish at the scheduled time and may be less than 50 minutes in duration. In this instance, the full fee will still apply.

We understand that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment due to emergency circumstances or serious illness. If this happens to you, please contact us as soon as possible.
